If you’ve never traveled on an airplane with your pet, there are some things to consider before boarding the plane. To make the trip to the airport seamless, hire a pet transport service for stress-free transportation to and from the airport!
Aim for succinct travel
If you can, book a non-stop flight to and from your destination — the less travel time for your pet, the better. This is especially important if your pet is traveling as cargo under the plane; the less chance for a flight mix-up or exposure to extreme weather conditions the better. Keep you pet healthy and safe with a non-stop flight.
If you do have to change flights, always alert the flight crew right away that you have a pet in cargo. When everyone is on the same page, this prevents any issues when changing flights.
When researching pet crates, be sure your pet has a USDA-approved crate, because if they don’t, they will not be able to travel. Instructions and regulations are found on the website you fly with, as well as, on the airport’s website.
Always clearly identify your pet’s crate with it’s name, your contact information, a picture, and it’s destination. Also include “Live Animal” on the outside of the crate.
